Article marketing is a type of advertising in which businesses write short articles related to their respective industry. It is a great way to get your message about your products and services in front of thousands of potential new customers and to rank better with the search engines so your customers can actually find you instead of your competitor online. Article marketing is a tremendous way to generate traffic to your site and is certainly a very powerful technique to achieve high Search Engine Rank.

Articles used for article marketing tend to be short. Well-written content articles released for free distribution have the potential of increasing the authoring business' credibility within its market as well as attracting new clients. They are written to target particular keyword niches, and distributed to content publishers that cater to those markets. Articles that are interesting and informative will act to draw targeted traffic direct to your website in both the short term and the long term. When writing your articles, they must not contain information the editors deem illegal, immoral or promoting hate or violence.

A resource box at the bottom of the article contains information about the author, and it usually includes a link to the author's related website, perhaps a subtle plug for something she is selling, and possibly even an email address to contact the author. You need to be seen as an authority on the subject to hold and maintain your audience. A well written article that provides good quality information may encourage the reader to visit the author's site to see what else he or she has to say.

Take the time to visit a few article directories. They are huge websites that contain thousands of free articles and, take the time to READ some articles, too. Submit your article to at least five directories a day. If you have the resources, you can submit them to an article submitter.

If article marketing is done properly, your voice, your opinions and your expertise, through the widespread of the articles that you have written will be able to go right across the Internet by being passed on and on. It may come as a surprise to some readers that the most important aspect of article marketing is not your list of keywords. The purpose for article marketing is to provide content that other publishers find valuable and will use for their own purposes. Frankly, article marketing is one of the most effective marketing strategies used today.
